Series 2: Packaging

Ep1: How important is seasonal packaging?

Gac Sao observed that brands that focus on image in marketing campaigns often have two main types of packaging (1) daily packaging, which means packaging used for each type of product every day (normally); (2) is seasonal packaging, festival packaging.

Daily packaging can be a predetermined packaging design (brand color, layout, pattern) and only changes in information depending on each type of product. This is the most common type of packaging and is usually fixed.

Seasonal packaging is a packaging design that carries the spirit and message of a specific (usually seasonal) media campaign.

So why are brands increasingly focusing on changing the “shirt” of their products?

(1) The first thing that attracts customers is the packaging.

What makes customers pay attention to your product among countless competitors “on the same shelf”; what brings immediate information and emotions to customers – is precisely the “packaging marketer”. Wouldn’t your efforts to create a good product be meaningless if customers don’t even pay attention to your product? A packaging that stands out, has its own style and brings a festive atmosphere is the “beautiful paint” that invites customers to try the “good wood” inside. And it will be very effective if your product and packaging “work together” to tell customers a story and an interesting experience during the holiday season.

(2) Packaging is also a “storyteller”

A good and visually creative packaging will enhance the customer experience, and customers are not far away from “buying” if they love the experience.

To demonstrate the point that “Packaging is also a ‘storyteller'”, we will mention Olive Studio’s packaging for the holiday season of 2023. With the theme “The tale under the oak”, in addition to the Cake products have interesting decorations; Olive Studio designed and launched the box with a new look. With its dark green color and patterns of mushrooms, rabbits, deer and many strange flowers, this box has contributed to telling viewers the story of the product in the cold and mysterious forest. We must admit that, among countless communication ideas for Christmas cakes, Olive Studio has impressed us with its new box and cake decoration with a very consistent and creative theme.

(3) “Emotions for purchasing”

Buying because of…emotions is a psychological trend that has received special attention recently. Emotions of “special attachment”, “scarcity”, … are the “golden keys” that brands often use to urge audiences to make purchases.

And packaging is also a “weapon” to evoke emotions that motivate customers to buy. NIKA’s cosmetic gift box for March 8 is a typical example.

With the message “Every girl has beauty like a fragrant flower. But a flower only blooms in its most beautiful form when it feels happy from deep inside.”; Gac Sao has designed a new packaging box with details of rose petals – (representing the beauty of a woman). The image of rose petals is blurred to create a new, soft and shining feeling. As for the font, Gac used a font that is minimalist, slim, gentle and luxurious for the message keyword “Happiness Blooms”. All of the above creative activities only aim at one goal: Every NIKA customer who meets their eyes with this gift box will feel appreciated and happy. By using products and consulting treatments of the NIKA brand, girls will be healthy and beautiful from the inside to always be radiant and shining like roses.
